ChatGPT Vs Google Bard AI Key Factors That Sets Two Most Prominent AI Bots Apart

The race for making a better, more prominent artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot is intensifying. More and more big tech firms are throwing their hats in the ring to come up with an AI-powered bot that can engage in more human-like conversation and can be used professionally. Google’s Bard AI and Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT are two of the most prominent artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots available in 2023. Both offer natural language responses to natural language inputs, using machine learning and millions of data points to craft useful, informative responses.

Although these AI tools are not perfect yet, they are still being used for virtual assistants, language translation, content creation, educational resources, solving complex problems, and evening writing codes. Amid the debate on the increasing usage of AI, we take a look at the differences between Bard AI and ChatGPT.

What are Google Bard AI and ChatGPT?

Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT is a large-scale language generation model that is trained to generate human-like text. It has been trained by AI and machine learning (ML) and features a system, which is designed to provide information and answer questions through a conversational interface. GPT is known for its ability to generate coherent and contextually relevant text, but it can also be prone to generating biased or nonsensical text.

On the other hand, Google’s Bard AI is a conversational AI developed by Google and powered by LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). Bard will use the plethora of data available on the internet to deliver original and accurate answers. Bard is currently in the testing phase and will be made accessible to the public in the coming weeks.

Key Differences Between Google Bard AI And ChatGPT

Although ChatGPT and Google Bard AI are natural language AI chatbots that are quite similar, they differ in some areas and are intended to be used in slightly different contexts.

  • Both ChatGPT and Google Bard AI use natural language models — Bard uses Google’s internal LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications), whereas ChatGPT uses an older GPT-3 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) language model.
  • Bard uses material that is already available online, including data and sources. Bard has access to the most recent date and delivers more up-to-date information, whereas ChatGPT’s knowledge is restricted to the events through 2021.
  • As of now a key advantage for ChatGPT is that it is publicly available, however, there’s a paid-for Plus version offering those interested in a more complete tool the option of paying for the privilege. On the other hand, Google’s Bard AI is still in the early beta test phase, only a hand full of users have access to the bot.
  • ChatGPT has been used for answering direct questions with direct answers. On the other hand, Google Bard AI was mainly designed around augmenting Google’s own search tool. But both of them are trying to gain ground in the AI market by showing different sides of the bots.
  • Microsoft has integrated ChatGPT into its Bing search engine to give users the ability to ask direct questions of the search engine. Bard AI is also destined to become an automated support tool for businesses. It will be offered to customers through a trained AI responder.

Although Bard is not now available to the general population yet, it has immense potential. Virtual personal assistants and other smart home gadgets are becoming more and more common, and this is already starting to change how we live and work. It still remains to be seen which AI model will get more popular in the near future.
