OnePlus 11 Software Updates Upgrades Extend Pete Lau Specs India Pricing

After Samsung, OnePlus has become the latest handset maker to increase the shelf life of its smartphones with extended software upgrades. OnePlus will start with its flagship OnePlus 11 5G, which will be unveiled in India tomorrow (February 7), the company has announced.

“We’re adding another dimension to Fast and Smooth. The #OnePlus11 is our first flagship supporting 4 years of Android versions and 5 years of security updates. Fast, smooth and truly built to last,” Pete Lau, Founder of OnePlus and Senior Vice President and Chief of Product at Oppo and OnePlus, tweeted.

The handset maker has been slow in rolling out software updates, but now, it is promising to extend the shelf life of its devices, in a bid to attract more users. Earlier in February 2022, South Korean tech giant Samsung had announced adding four generations of Android upgrades and OneUI upgrades five years of security updates on select handsets in the flagship Galaxy S series, Z series and A series smartphones as well as tablets.

According to previous leaks and rumours, the global variant of the OnePlus 11 would come with the same hardware configuration as the China unit.

Earlier, Lau had teased that the OnePlus 11R, which is slated to launch alongside the OnePlus 11 tomorrow, will be a “performance flagship”, thus, indicating that the 11R will be relatively more affordable than the OnePlus 11.

The India pricing and specs of the OnePlus 11 have also recently surfaced and according to that the base variant of the OnePlus 11 will come with 8GB of RAM with 128GB of onboard storage and it may be priced at Rs 49,999. There would also be a 12GB RAM/256GB storage configuration and that may be priced at Rs 54,999 whereas the 16GB RAM/256GB onboard storage model may set you back by Rs 59,999. The biggest configuration variant of OePlus 11 would come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and that may be priced at Rs 66,999.

The OnePlus 11 could come with a 6.7-inch QHD+ 2.75D flexible curved AMOLED screen and support adaptive 120Hz high refresh rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The panel would have up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness. The smartphone would pack Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which also powers the newly-launched Galaxy S23 line. However, Samsung has used “customised for Galaxy” Snapdrahon 8 Gen 2 chipsets in its Galaxy S23 line.

The OnePlus 11 may sport a 5,000mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging. It will be available in 8GB/12GB/16GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB/256GB/512GB UFS 4.0 storage options.
