Swiggy Delivers 3.50 Lakh Biryani Orders Over 61,000 Pizzas Blinkit Customer Places Order Worth Rs28,962

New Year 2023 had a great beginning for food delivery companies as the orders kept flooding the platforms. Food delivery app Swiggy claimed to have delivered 3.50 lakh biryani orders on Saturday and by 10.25 PM the app dispatched over 61,000 pizzas across the country, according to the news agency PTI.

Going by the poll conducted by Swiggy on Twitter, around 75.4 per cent of orders came for Hyderabadi Biryani followed by Lucknowi at 14.2 per cent and Kolkata at 10.4 per cent.

Hyderabadi Biryani Tops Orders At Swiggy

“With 3.50 lakh orders, Biryani was the top item that was delivered,” sources told the news agency. A total of 65 lakh biryani orders were delivered by 7.20 PM on Saturday.

Bawarchi, one of the top biriyani sellers in Hyderabad, delivered two biriyanis per minute on 2021 New Year’s eve and for December 31, 2022, it prepared 15 tonnes of delicacy to meet the demand.

“@dominos_india, 61,287 pizzas have been delivered, we can only imagine the number of oregano packets going with them,” Swiggy said in another tweet.

It also said 1.76 lakh packets of chips were ordered on Swiggy Instamart as of 7 PM on Saturday.

“The party is already off to a fast start – we have already delivered over 1.3 million orders and counting. Our fleet & restaurant partners are geared up to make this NYE unforgettable. Pro-tip: order early to beat the rush,” Sriharsha Majety, Swiggy CEO tweeted on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a Blinkit customer from Bengaluru placed an order worth Rs 28,962 on the grocery delivery app ahead of New Year’s eve, announced the CEO and co-founder of the company on Twitter.

In his tweet, Albinder Dhindsa, CEO and co-founder of Blinkit (previously Grofers), contemplated if the Bengaluru customer had set a record for the biggest order on New Year’s eve.

“Biggest party order today is worth Rs28,962 by someone from Bengaluru. Will this be the highest or?” he left the question hanging.

Dhindsa also shared details of how people across the country are ordering groceries for New Year’s eve celebrations. Every one in three orders being placed in Delhi right now contains a soft drink, he revealed.
